General dentistry covers everything from a routine cleaning to a root canal. As a general dentist, Dr. Steve Garn will ensure your teeth and gums are healthy by giving you regular checkups. It is important to have these checkups every six months to keep your teeth clean, strong, and disease free.
During your visit, Dr. Garn will gently evaluate how healthy your gums are, check your head and neck and check your mouth for vitamin deficiencies, diabetes or oral cancer. From there, your teeth will get a thorough cleaning. Throughout the cleaning, you will experience the removing of plaque and tarter by special instruments only the dentist office has. We thoroughly clean, and polish teeth to provide that just-cleaned, smooth feeling. During the cleaning, you will receive tips on how to care for your teeth properly to ensure your health.
The clinical dental examination may include:
• Examining the Inside of Your Mouth
• Checking for Gum Disease
• Examining for Loose Teeth
• Evaluating Your Bite
. Oral Cancer Screening
• Evaluating Dental Appliances, if Applicable
• Digital X-rays of the Mouth
• Evaluating Contact between Your Teeth
• Checking for Damaged Fillings
• Exam to see if Tooth Decay is Present
• Application of fluoride if Applicable
Digital x-rays are quickly becoming adopted by a large percentage of the dental industry. A digital x-ray allows the Dr. Garn to take an image of the tooth or teeth and put it into an imaging program. Within this imaging program, there are a number of tools that will allow the Dr. Garn to take a very close look at the teeth and surrounding structures with amazing accuracy. As a benefit to the patient, the digital x-ray also provides nearly 80% less radiation than a standard x-ray. This is due to the fact that the digital version of the x-ray is much more sensitive to this radiation and has been specifically designed with the patient in mind.
Dr. Garn provides general dentistry service to patients of all ages. Whether you have had regular checkups, or it’s been a while, Routine dental visits will keep your healthy teeth in optimum condition.
